Philips amBX SGC5103BD Premium Kit / Speakers / Game Lighting Kit / Fans And Wrist Rumbler

This system gives something entirely new to your experience. While the wrist rumbler is a pretty common feature on consoles these days ever since Nintendo introduced the rumble pak on the n64, it is used differently, the combination of the fans and the lights along with it bring something different to games.

I play a lot of PC Games and i bought Quake4 when it came out as its the latest in a legendary line of games. And if im honest, didn't really enjoy it a great deal. Combine it with ambx though and i really did. The little rumble when you jump, the big rumble when an explosion goes off near you, the lights going mental when you fire at people, the fans going on when you get the backwash from a rocket or you're going fast in a vehicle really do make it a great deal of fun! It does the same with a variety of other games too, UT2004 (I do really enjoy that game) and Call of Duty 4 being my favourites.

Also the fact that Phillips have made sure you can control the lights and fans while not playing a game is so useful, just having the fans on helps me so much while at the computer. My room is boiling and the fans actually make it bearable! And the lights are just generally really pretty and everyone loves them when they come in.

The speakers are also really good, sound quality is very good, they're ridiculously loud if you want them to be and the subwoofer is massive, so for people who want a speaker set they're good enough, let alone the rest of the stuff you get with it!

Couple of drawbacks, it has a limited set of games it is compatible with. Also £170 is a lot of money, even if you are getting a lot for it.

All in all i love ambx, it adds something new to my gaming which is definitely a very very good thing, plus gives me a set of fans, some really pretty lights (I've researched this, to get something similar to the lights seperately would set you back almost as much as the entire ambx system) and some great speakers. I'm gonna be using it during a house party as playing music (On wmp) with it does kinda make it look like you're at a disco. Which is actually awesome :D

I won this premium kit in a competition a while ago. The price back then for this kit was £230. I initially thought it was slightly overpriced but not greatly so. Now its selling here on play for £89.00 i have to say its an incredible offer. Forget the fancy lights, fans, wrist rumbler - because if like me they are simply seen as gimmicks i can reassure you by saying the 2.1 speakers and base box are simply incredible. Its very loud and has terrific base, mid and treble. I use the light settings for chilled nights at home either watching a movie or listening to music. I dont really buy into the immersive game aspect. But what it offers for the price is an excellent sound system with perks. If you need a 2.1 setup get this.

One word to describe this; awesome. Playing some of the new games like Call of Duty 4 or Assassin's Creed on it at home in a dark room is fantastic. The lights change colour depending on what you do in the game, so if you get attacked for example the lights will turn red, when you run the fans turn on and if there are explosions the rumble pad and fans work together.

It is also great for music, you can create your own mini-disco by positioning the lights / speakers in different corners of the room, create a play list in Windows Media Player or WinAmp and have the lights change colour in line with the visualiser whilst getting good sound quality from the speakers.

This has really changed the way I play both my games and my music and definitely changes the whole experience. Highly recommended for people that want to upgrade their gaming experience and get something new from it.

I can't believe how effective this is! I was a bit dubious about putting lights and boxes around my PC but it really does add something completely new. When it's not on you really miss it!

This kit is absolutely incredible when you use it, I was one of the testers for it way back earlier this year and the first time you step into an ambx home cinema setup or play a game using this kit it changes the way you think about things, it makes games and cinema so much more immersive and where it is expandable its definately worth investing in because this will last so much longer than something like a graphics or sound card before it gets outdated.

Seriously, any hardcore film fan or gamer will love you long time if they get one of these bad boys for christmas :P
