 Plug & Play with Ubuntu

Works flawlessly on Ubuntu 9.10! Plugged it in, switched the PC on and it connected straight away with a much better signal than the D-link USB adapter I've put up with for 5 years. Wish I'd bought it sooner!

 A cheap and good card

Easy to install, works straight away in Linux, Windows XP needs drivers though, but all in all very fast and easy to set up, great signal too.

Wish there was a way to shorten the cable though, but the for the price it can't be beat (well unless you buy an external USB one...).

 Excellent piece of kit

I bought this PCI card to replace my Philips SNU5600 wireless usb adapter and I must say my wifi performance has improved significantly. Installation was very simple; it took less than 15 mins in all to get the card up and running and that was with me, a complete novice, installing it.

The wireless signal is almost always at 100% (Excellent) compared to around 60% (Good) with my old usb adapter, this is probably helped by the wired aerial which you can move around in order to get the best signal. I have also yet to experience any dropouts with this PCI card.

Downloads feel a lot quicker; speed tests bring back results of around 4500-5000kbps compared to 3000-3500kbps with my old usb adapter. I have also noticed that my computer seems to tick over less when using the internet through this card.

In all I'm very pleased with this purchase especially as it was half the price of my old usb adapter. Another thing to add was the free delivery from Play.com was very quick; the item was dispatched Wednesday and it arrived Friday morning.

Grand with Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit

Literally just got this working with minimal hassle. Download the Win 7 driver package from Edimax, unpack the zip file but don't run anything yet. Install the PCI card, boot up, Win 7 won't recognise it yet. Run the Edimax install, select Driver Only and bosh. Sorted! Getting 4/5 on the signal strength and I live in a house with concrete walls.

I've now owned 4 of these pci cards, all for various computer builds. I have never had a problem with them, they have fairly good reciever strength, never fails, and the quality seems to be quite good. Many of the other budget wireless PCI cards seem to have problems and compatibility issues. With this it will work with all windows, including the latest windows 7. It will also work with all distributions of the latest linux kernel, as well as mac.
