At an amazing £379.99 that I paid just 3 months ago I doubt if there has been much better value for money anywhere. Both Play.com and the computer have been excellent.
Although this has been perfect for my requirements, it may not be enough for those with more advanced needs.

Customer rating: 5 out of 5 stars Excellent value for money.

Well done play! Delivered within 48 hours. Everything is spot on with the Acer Aspire 5920. Took me months to decide which laptop to buy and this was on offer on Play and I couldn't resist. This is one of my best buys. It has the 8ms Acer CrystalBrite LCD screen which really lives up to its reputation and a good built in sound system as well. The specs are all top notch, my only grief is that it could have done with a bigger hard drive and the fan is a bit lively, it likes to keep making itself heard, but other than that, go for it you will be impressed.

For the money, a machine of this spec is an absolute bargain. Easy to set up, no problems what so ever. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!

Customer rating: 5 out of 5 stars Excellent at the current sale price

this is an incredible machine for £380. Very smart looking and performs as you would expect at the spec. There are some nice little features with the media keys on the keyboard, and the built in web cam (which is a very nice quality I might add). The wireless network feature is a doddle to connect.

I must say that PLAY.COM are outstanding in their customer service, I have shopped with them for a number of years now and they never cease to amaze me on price and speed of delivery - never had anything go missing with them and ordered this 1:00am on a Thursday morning, and it arrived on Saturday morning - superb!

I've had this laptop for around 3 months now and I am still massively happy with it. It's fast enough to hold it's own even whilst running Flash, Photoshop and Dreamweaver and although the integrated graphics x3100 isn't the best card on the market, I've managed to play through quite a few games on it e.g Call Of Duty 4 (On Low-Medium settings).

I paid a little bit more for this laptop at the time, so at this price you should BUY IT NOW!

Customer rating: 5 out of 5 stars Superb Machine & Unbeatable Value For Money

I took delivery of my laptop about 2 weeks ago and have to say that I can't fault it in any shape or form. It connects to my wireless network effortlessly on start up and performs all the usual functions with ease and considerable speed. I had been waiting for the price of 2GB RAM laptops to come down, but as well as satisfying that desire, the inclusion of a 2Ghz processor for £399 made this an offer far too good to resist. Well done play, for making performance laptops accessible to the family market.

Customer rating: 5 out of 5 stars Unbeatable spec for the price!

I should know held of buying a laptop for about 6 months until I seen this one for 399.
Had read reviews on other websites, where the Acer was slated for build quality and spec. Certainly not this laptop, compared to work laptops such as Sony or Toshiba this rates up there, or better for design, features and build quality.
Yes the graphics may not be up to Crysis on the lowest settings, but if it's an office tool you are after this would be an excellent choice. The Acer Wireless software is easy to use along with the rest of the 'Empowering Software'. I may not uninstall it.
The screen is excellent as long as the viewing angle is correct otherwise the quality goes down the wider your viewing angle. I would struggle to find any faults, so along with the usual efficient service fro Play, excellent purchase!

Customer rating: 5 out of 5 stars Superb spec and price make for an unbeatable laptop!

Top 100 PC Reviewer

At this price point, there's nothing to touch this for spec and that's reason enough to buy it. However, it's also very well put together, with a stylish look and quality of workmanship that makes for a package that feels far, far more expensive than it actually is. Perhaps not everyone will like its look, It is bold but you certainly cannot ignore it or call it bland! The top case is a highly polished black, with a quality looking matte off-white for the remaining case. The screen catch is cleverly incorporated into the web cam assemly - a practical and effective touch. The webcam works well, even in modestly low light. The keyboard is good for extended use, with quality travel and key-spacing. The mouse pad is a good size and responsive, with well placed buttons. The screen is very bright and superbly clear but note that, in common with all such x-bright type screens, it has a more limited viewing angle than a standard screen. Acer have added useful hot/function buttons for wireless on/off, Internet Explorer, Email and for media control - play, stop, rewind and fast forward etc, with stylish blue LED's that compliment the design theme of the laptop. It has a reasonable weight of about 3kg and battery life of around 2 hours in use. Spare batteries are an option for longer wirefree use, with prices that are much more affordable than all the other major manufacturers. The laptop has no 'hot spots, so extended periods on the lap are fine and fan noise is at a surprisingly low level for such a powerhouse. The sound system is extremely good, with a sub-woofer and multiple speakers making for a surprisingly impressive and immersive sound experience, even at higher volumes. The connectivity is comprehensive with a multi-format card reader, 4 USB ports and all the other usual ports- all conveniently located. In use, this laptop really impresses, it fires up like lightening and runs multiple tasks with really impressive speed. This is due to the inclusion of the latest 'Santa Rosa' dual core Processor. Don't be fooled into thinking that the benefits of 2Ghz over a similar sounding 1.5Ghz or so older intel processor is marginal, the Santa Rosa has a far more advanced design and really makes a big difference to performance, far beyond the extra few Ghz of headline speed. Acer have clearly thought long and hard about what buyers want from a laptop at this price point and they have delivered a stylish, quality powerhouse for all the core uses. The only major omission is a dedicated graphics card but I cannot imagine anyone looking at this price point would expect one. I cannot recommend it highly enough, there's nothing else out there to touch it (as at the 2nd 1/4 of 08). As a final recommendation, Acer offer a warrantly extension from the included one year, giving two additional years of peace of mind, for just £49.99 on Play.com. This price includes a stylish and practical matching bag and USB mouse in the package, which makes for a very economical addition to a seriously decent laptop. Buy one now!
