Keyboard is clunky and slow, only three keys 'type-ahead'; 1GB RAM is not enough for Vista which is slow anyway, even with the 2GB RAM that it really needs. If this machine had XP installed, it would probably fly. Upgrades are possible but at a cost. Hard drive good, fast.
Why is it only 80GB and not 120GB though? Better machines available for this money. Why is Vista forced on customers?

I have had this laptop for a couple of weeks now and i must say im very impressed. The 17" screen is clear and bright. With vista installed( Ive gone back to xp not a big fan of vista) 1GB of ram is poor but that has been upgraded to 4GB. If you do not want to use vista you will find the xp drivers on the acers USA site. There is also room for an extra sata hard drive in this laptop which will be the next thing ill be getting. Overal this laptop is great value for money and upgradable if and when you want to.

I brought this really just to surf the net and do a bit of word processing , my only real requirement was for a nice 17 inch screen and this has a great one Its reasonably quick with just the standard 1 gb but I've also brought some additional ram to make things a bit more snappy . The only downside I have noted is that the speakers are a bit weedy and don't go very loud , indeed the sound from my ancient toshiba laptop is a lot more satisfying
