Having been soldiering on with an ancient and decrepid laptop for years, anything that took less than 10mins to load up and did basic tasks without crashing, was going to be a winner. I wasnt sure whether I really wanted to spend this much on a laptop seeing as you can get ones that do the basic for around half the price, however I did want something that I could play games on. Wasnt expecting much from it in terms of gaming, however every game (mainly strategy i.e company of heroes, age of empires, and RAM hungry footy manager) I have got for it so far have worked fine with medium to high detail and graphics level.
Few little niggles:
-firstly that everytime it loads up it keeps asking me to register it with the acer website
-webcam didnt work properly at first but seems to have rectified itself
- mouse and keyboard are a bit rubbish
- you need a articulated lorry to move it, but I knew that before hand.

HDD is more than adequate for my needs, especially as external ones are so cheap. Good screen. Have heard that acer tech support is pretty poor, but I havent had to deal with them. So far so good

Headphone jack broken on majority of these laptops - mine came shipped with faulty memory, continual crashes.

Avoid this laptop.

This laptop does everthing it says on the tin so to speak. Play don't seem to realise that their Courierers are letting them down. The courier (Parcel Force) tried to deliver the item twice when I was out. Each time no card was posted through the door. Without tracking this item via the play site, I would not have known an attempted delivery happened while I was out. It would be good to know when the delivery is happening (day/time) to ensure you are around when they arrive.

I did a lot of hunting around before parting with my money on a desktop replacement laptop.
Here are the main good and bad points:

- This computer is fast - it starts up and closes down quickly and runs Vista with no problems at all.
- I haven't had any problems with Vista at all, all my old programs work, printers, scanners, etc. all work fine and install quickly
- The screen is HUGE, bright and very very clear - very impressive!
- The best video card they offer
- The keyboard is a delight to type on and you have the proper numeric keypad.
- Lots of USB sockets (left and right hand sides)
- It's quite heavy and battery life is probably an hour at full performance, but this is really a desktop replacement and I had no intention of travelling with it, if you want a decent battery life, then you won't get it with any 2x2GHz, 17" screen laptop!
- the price at Play is very good - there are other 7720 models in the Acer range but I went for this one as it has the same performance of the others but without features that i probably wouldn't use anyway. You can always get an external USB HDD or TV Card later if you really need one.

I don't play computer games so can't say whether this is a good laptop or not, but I would guess yes as it runs all the Aero features very smoothly.

I am very content with my purchase and would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a fast, impressive desktop replacement.

I have to say this is a great laptop, for under 600 quid i am very happy with my purchase. Fast,light,nice screen. By the way make sure you see another 17in laptop before buying this one screen is huge more of a desktop replacement for moving now and then. Sound is amazing for films acts like proper surround sound. Good for music but not as amazing

I got this laptop as my computer has just broken. It was a pretty high end gaming computer. If you want a gaming laptop then LOOK ELSEWHERE. Yes it can run Sims 2 on maxed out settings, but Gears of War is a no hoper.

But I have other things to play games on so this does not bother me. I wanted a laptop to play music and do work on.

Ill start off with the screen. It is stunning. It displays pure white and black, and makes all colours stand out, but it a good way.

The T300 makes things run very quickly, and you would normally expect to see this processer in something much more expensive.

You get free trial of office 2007, 90 day norton trial, NTI cd and dvd maker built in and some other random acer stuff that i havent used yet.

The webcam is suprisingly good for 0.3 mp and the software that comes with it isnt too bad either, but very basic.

Vista runs like a dream, no slowdown at all.

The green Acer empower button in the top right and the green (not sure what it is but it tells you what make it is) look good, and I was worried about this bit as I do not normally like green, but is is very tasteful.

I have read many reviews saying it is ugly, bulky and heavy. Im not sure what normal laptops are like, but it feels like a feather. It also looks amazing, I have not taken off the protective sleave as I want it to look new for aslong as posibble. I have briefly lifted it to see what it looks like and it does look nice.

Acer 3-Year Warranty With Accidental Damage / 17" Laptop Case / Mouse

Seach for the above on play Yes it is expensive, but it has 3 years warrenty with it. So it is a very good deal (you also get a free mouse.)

So far I have only said positives, but there are some niggly faults. The mouse on the laptop is not very good (but when are laptop ones ever?) My graphics card sticker was on wonky....erm and thats about it!

This is a great buy and as you may be able to tell, I am in love!
