Customer rating: 3 out of 5 stars great laptop shame about the battery

I bought this laptop in march of this year and was impressed as soon as i opened the box. Its very easy to setup and use straight away. the only real problem I have is with the battery as you are lucky if it lasts an hour if playing music and word processing at the same time (which being a student i do regularly). occasionally the mouse pad can be a bit slow or the scroll doent work but but i know that happens to a fair few laptops. all in all though a brilliant laptop with a huge screen and a good design overall just a shame about the battery.

Customer rating: 5 out of 5 stars GREAT price and aesthetics.

A seriously lovely looking laptop with all the potential to be one of Play.com's most popular. Its a great laptop with a top spec and a good trustworthy brandname. The one downfall of this laptop is that it wont support some of the more hardcore games youll be fine to run things such as counter strike and half life but more demanding games such as bioshock may lag or not work all toghether. Overall though a great performing laptop that has a beast of a screen. One tip- if you buy a laptop bag.. get one that will fit!!! 17'' can be a squeeze.

Ok first let me start with the exterior: Lovely black exterior gives a sense of black marble. Ports beautifully hidden by flaps to keep the look factor. Multimedia buttons are placed at a sensible place and so are the volume and others. I really like the eject button as I dont have to reach for the disk one in dark. Then there is the superb inbuilt camera and the microphone.

The 17" dual lamp tech. screen is fantastic and amazingly bright. I have started loving it more then my Toshiba 32c3030 tv. The dark black covers are preserved beautifully.

Then you have the blue ray writer though its slow in reading DVDs but as they have inlcuded a next gen format writer in this price I will keep my mouth shut.

Vista works perfectly with these configuration and it scores a 4.8 by Microsoft.

Another plus point are the two 160GB hard drives which are pretty much essential for games and back ups. Most of the people dont know that you don't get any discs with this model as they have pre partitioned a recovery drive.

Just for information with my purchase Sony has promised a free Spiderman 3 blu ray with this model. I am still waiting for the delivery but its a plus if you get this model now.

The BEST PART is that it can atleast play CRYSIS though on low settings its still amazing. And Gears of War on medium. Obvisouly I can't compare these graphics to my PS3 but still they are amazing and I am loving playing on this machine.

One thing which I can't understand is how does PLAY manage to put such low retail prices. I have compared the prices on eBay and everyother single place and these chap offers the lowest and then they also give you free delivery. Simply amazing!!!!

To summarise if you are looking for a new laptop or a replacement for your current one and you still want to be in the next gen league and also dont wanna overspend then definately go for this model.

If you seek for more power then go for AR61S which is also being sold by PLAY for an amazingly low price.

ive been trying to find a laptop with this kind of spec and price for what seems like a lifetime now, fortunately for me this one cropped up on here. you trying building a laptop with likes of dell for this kind of price with things like a blueray drive, NVIDIA geforce graphics, and a whopping 320 gb harddrive, your looking at at least £1000+. need i say more?

Customer rating: 5 out of 5 stars Great machine

If you like Sony products (not the cheap and nasty Sony) you are going to like this! I'll get the few bad points out of the way first. The first thing I noticed when I picked the box up was how heavy it is, I've ordered the backpack to take it out with me, but it is a big screen and the build quality is excellent. Next there is no seperate number pad which if you enter a lot of numbers like I do can be a bit awkward. Aparently the graphics card is not up to intense 3D gaming (no concern to me) and dispite the sticker on the unit saying Full HD 1080 I think (correct me if I'm wrong) only the AR51SU is, but to be honest it's one of the best screens I've seen and I love it. One more thing with the power lead traling to the right it covers one of the USB ports but not to worry as there are two more on the side.
If you can live with that then there is a good chance you will like this just check out some of the reviews on the net I could not find a bad one for it. I know there are similar spec machines about £150 cheaper but they don't have Sony styling or quality.
Also very impressed with Play, after the security checks were complete I got an Email in the afternoon saying it was posted and it was at my house at 9am the next morning (shame I had to go to work and had to get it from the depot after work) Brilliant :-)
