i bought these because i was looking for a cheap replacement for a set of speakers that just died on me. i was looking for something that i could play music through at a decent volume with decent bass.

these are NOT those speakers.

if you are wanting to play music regularly and get decent sound you will NOT get that from these.

i have tried every configuration of sound presets on my computer and no matter what, the sound comes out extremely tinny and distorted. dont listen to other reviewers saying they can be configured to play good quality sound at high volumes. they wont. they do not have a bass knob or anything. they are barebones simple usb speakers with just a volume knob, on/off switch and a headphone jack. they are also pretty small at around 12cm tall.

if you're looking for something to just provide basic sound and you dont listen frequently to music, these will be fine and have done the job for me in that respect just fine. but as soon as you throw on some music, forget about it.

2/5

ill be looking into something a little more expensive now.

money reflects quality 99% of the time folks ;)

 Much better than expected

Bought these a few months ago to use for music & radio in work and was very surprised by the quality. Decent, well balanced sound, and very cheap as well.

Lightweight, good sound quality and versatile

For the price these are very good indeed. Volume and sound quality is amazing, far better than one would have a right to expect for so little outlay. I strongly suspect that the reviewers complaining of poor sound quality need to adjust the output on their computers.

 Very Pleased! :)

Oviously these are basic speakers, however value for money is there. Sound quality is very clear, happy with my new speakers! :)

 Really disappointed : (

I bought these based on the reviews that were posted but the sound is so cheap and " tinny" that I'm already looking for something else to replace them with. I'm not an obssesive about sound quality whatsoever, but if I'm taking the time to listen to something then I appreciate it sounding decent. These fail in that respect. Save your money and buy something else in my opinion.

 Money well Spent!

I went onto play.com to find a decent and cheap pair of speakers, and these speakers are not only a good pair of speakers for their price, they are overall a very good pair of speakers for people who want something with more 'oomph' than the laptops/monitors speakers! :D These are a very good buy!

 Bargain

For 4.99 this speakers are a bargain, you get good sound if your exspecting better that good then spend more than 4.99 so ignore all the cheapskates who gave it 1 star.

 Awful Speakers, really disappointed.

I know, i know - these are £6 speakers but they are total rubbish. I use them to listen to music to really quietly in the office, and even at low volume levels they sound awful. They creak and distort and make all the noises unhappy speakers make. Seriously don't bother with these, i would send them back for a refund, but i think it would cost more to post them back than my refund would be... gutted :(

 Pleasantly surprised

Pretty good for what are essentially bargain basement speakers.
No real bass to speak of and it breaks up a little bit at max volume (it's fairly loud), but considering the price this is an easy 5 stars.
