Acer P243W 24 inch Widescreen LCD Monitor

This is my first 24" monitor and it's absolutely great. When I first plugged it in I was instantly amazed at how clear the screen was. I bought this because I needed it to be a multimedia monitor for University. I needed to run my Xbox 360, DVDs, computer and my television so the VGA, DVI, and HDMI ports are really useful. The P243W also has a really nice gloss finish on the screen, this not only helps when it is a bright day, but it makes the screen so much clearer as well.

I really can't fault this monitor, although it would have been nice if the mount had a swivel, but I don't really need it so it's not too much of a problem for me. One other small issue was that when I received the monitor and first plugged it in, being a graphics student I noticed my Photoshop colours, and general colours on programs such as Mozilla and MSN were pink especially in the top left hand corner of the screen. This was easily fixed by going into the monitors settings and changing the setting from 'warm' to 'user'. Warm basically added a pinky orange glow to the screen which actually looked pretty terrible. It would have been nice if the user setting was default because I almost found myself sending the monitor back because I thought there was a problem with it.

Other than that I really do recommend this monitor. The screen resolution is great. I find that I can work on multiple graphics programs and still have space to have applications like MSN and Winamp open on my desktop. The price is really good for what you get as well, I've seen monitors of the same specification, or less, going for a couple hundred more than the P243W.

When I first received the monitor I was amazed at the sheer quality of the build. From its rock solid casing, to the metal stand. It's quick to respond to signal changes and generally looks amazing. The 1920x1200 resolution is just incredible in games, but I'd recommend a really good graphics card to get the best out of it.
Colours are rich and full, with blacks so deep it's like the screen is turned off!
The only slight issue I have with it, is that sometimes on an all white page, there is a blue tint that I could never really remove, even with changed settings. Its not so much an issue as me being picky, but I'm sure you would like to know ;]
However, I wouldn't recommend using this monitor in a room with a window directly behind as sun light reflection can become an issue.

For this quality, at such a low price there is simply no other monitor that can compete. It's perfect for video, text, photo editing, everything, and especially over my old Samsung model.
Also, this monitor came with not one single dead pixel, quite impressive for the low price and size ratio.

I just got this monitor, it looks amazing, no dead pixels, colour looks great. even tho my graphics card is quite old, im running it through VGA and it still looks pretty awesome on 1900x1200, runs smoothly playing DVD's and games. I guessing it will be even better if i hooked it up with DVI. but overall a great monitor. i give it 4/5 for features. 5/5 for looks and 5/5 for value for money. overall great monitor.

Having spent years on an old 15" TFT the upgrade to this screen was understandably unbelievable. It almost doesn't fit on my desk. I literally have to turn my head to see the far sides! I can see entire webpages on one screen, read two full-size A4 documents side-by-side and see so much of my music library the mouse scroll is now obsolete.

Monitor-wise I am very pleased. The monitor is very bright, showing rich detail and with all of the specs taken into account this screen is extremely good value for money.

Being a person that deliberates a lot when buying something, I spent hours trawling through various sites and looking at the alternatives: if you want a 24" 1920x1200 monitor this monitor beats all. 2ms grey to grey, contrast ratios and brightness levels that far exceed the opposition.. this is a very good buy.

I bought this monitor to use as a temporary fix as i gave my hdtv away and to use with my new PC. The size of the monitor is the first thing that blew me away, even though my tv was 32" inches i kept in my mind that its going to be my PC monitor. Setting up was simple, took no longer than 2 minutes but the OEM's settings were not very good. I fixed in about 5 minutes though. Clarity is crisp with the PS3 and 8600GT in SLi.
All i have left to say is perfection. Looking for a new monitor? Go with this.
