I bought this monitor to replace an illyama 19" prolite, and at £129.99 incl delivery it is an amazing price point and for me an unmissable deal.

However I plugged it in to the DVI on my GForce 8800 and set my display resolution to 1600x1050 and the first impression was washed out, over white and ridiculously overbright. I didn't think manufacturers were even allowed to ship units with the brightness this hiked up anymore. I was a little disappointed to be honest.

So I ran through a couple of lcd monitor calibration websites to set the black point, white point and gamma, which took about 15 minutes and now it is amazing. The picture produced is vibrant, sharp well balanced and the blacks are really good for a monitor of this class. The more I use it the more I love it. The case is also sleek and even my wife appreciates how much better than the old one it looks.

Overall, if you are prepared to spend a little time calibrating it you'll end up with an absolute bargin.… more »
