When i was originally looking for a laptop i decided to browse the big names like sony first and then this caught my eye. For a sony machine with the same or even less specs it is gona cost you more and for a sony machine of the same price you are gona get a lot less. So definately go for this, it is amazing and it hasn't let me down yet.

I've had it for 7 months and it works like a charm. I am able to use photoshop, dreamweaver, premier and other editing software without any hassle. The blu ray player is amazing and the screen is full 1080 hd, great for watching movies and playing games.

I am a film student and i have no problems watching dvds while writing essays, listening to music and browsing the internet all at the same time.

The previous reviewer is also correct in that it doesnt give you lots of crap pre installed garbage like sony which is a nightmare to uninstall. A lot of the pre installed stuff is actualy good and i use it all the time.

Depending what you want from a laptop, this little bundle covers all the bases, and does so well, and for the budget minded, it's sub 1000, which is an amazing price, as there really aren't that many "specced" machines selling under the 1k mark!

This machine has it all where it counts, it's fast, it's versatile, it performs under pressure (and believe me, I work my machines hard!)

Primarily, I purchased this machine as a replacement for my VAIO, as it was dying a slow and painful death, and of course when looking for parts, they cost the Earth as they're from Sony!! So, it had to be a workhorse, and it had to be mobile which were my first two pre-requisites, then I added a few features that I would like... obviously, for the power hungry the stand alone graphics speak for themselves (512mb 9500m GS card, very very sweet!) handling high end photoshopping with ease. Next up, I liked the idea of being able to take my Blu-Ray movies on the move with me, so I pitched in for that, and at the time of purchase this was one of the few machines fitting my budget... and I must say, it surpassed even my most implausable of expectations, so much so that I have since sold my stand alone blu-ray player and simply output this one via HDMI to my main TV when at home!

Also, the ACER product suite that comes pre-installed really isn't that intrusive compared to its obvious rivals (most noteably the HP range, and to a lesser extent Sony seem to be putting a lot of pointless software in with their bundles lately) some of the software is actually quite useful, other portions of course see the uninstall option being checked almost instantly, but unlike it's rivals, the ACER doesn't make any fuss about removing them, which makes it a joy to use!

I use this machine for a myriad of purposes, and I have to say it has not ever given me any cause for concern, even the touch panel on the left side, which I felt might be cause for concern now serves as an integral part of the laptop, with this machine now being my primary blu-ray player, that is the remote control!!

This new range of ACER's really brings them up to spec and gives the competition something really very serious to think about, if ACER keep their game this high, the big mainstay brands are really going to have to work hard to keep their customer base!

Even the design of the main vent on this unit shows how much forethought went into the production... people leave their laptops on their beds all the time (which generally is seen as a big no no) but this one vents up in front of the monitor as well as underneath, meaning you're not going to destroy your unit if you leave it on the bed to long!!

I'm a user and abuser of my laptops, and they rarely last as well as this even after a few months showing signs of wear and tear, but this little unit was obviously never meant for rehab, because it just won't quit!!!

If you're not convinced by how highly I praise this machine, then fine, go ahead, buy a HP, buy a Sony, heck, look at the Compaq's... you'll be back here in a few months anyway, because this is the best 900 pound laptop on the market today!
