 Great - Clear temperature drop

This cooler is the first that has had a significant impact on my laptops temperature (dell m1530). Most coolers have fans that direct air to specific spots on your machine, where this machine spreads it across the entire underside of your laptop.

Temperature change was as follows:
(First temp is without the cooler the second with the cooler fan on it's middle setting the third temp with the fan on full speed.)
Cpu1 = 45 - 29 - 28 (difference 17 degrees)
Cpu2 = 49 - 32 - 30 (difference 19 degrees)
Gpu = 62 - 48 - 47 (difference 15 degrees)
Hdd = 38 - 28 - 28 (difference 10 degrees)
Motherboard = 48 - 32 - 30 (difference 18 degrees)

The effects of this cooler on my laptop were pretty much as suggested by cooler master.

Fan noise:
Slow fan speed results in very little noise, something you will struggle to hear over the background noise you get at home or in the office
Middle fan speed is a little noisier, you will hear it over the background noise, but it is no worse than noises from the laptop like the hard drive and cd-rom.
High (full) speed setting, it is something you would not want to listen to constantly in an office/home office environment, it is plainly audible over most every day noise.

Conclusion:
Use slow fan speed if you are using a laptop for office type work (email, typing, browsing) your machine won't be kicking out a lot of heat anyway and the fan won't disturb you.

The middle speed seems to be the best compromise between cooling and noise, personally i will be using this setting for everything except playing games, as the extra cooling will really help and the fan noise will be lost behind the sound of a hail of bullets anyway.

My test was done while using the laptop as i do everyday, browser, media player and photo editor open and in use.
Note the cooler had no real impact on my battery life, presumably because the internal fans are doing a lot less work.

I have now had this since late October, had have left time for it to settle in, before reviewing.
At a glance:
Performance: X X X X X
Set Up: X X X X X
Noise: X X X
Value for Money: X X X X X

PERFORMANCE: My computer is on 24/7 and is always busy, (Sony Vaio FE11H 15.4 widescreen) Its own cooling is good but it still get hot at the bottom left and right of the machine with the vent hot to touch. The cooler has improved the vents temperature by a great deal what was very hot to touch is now just a warm breeze. Bottom left and right of the machine are stone cold. I have even turned the cooler off for an hour to see how good it was and sure enough after 30 min it was hot again, turned the cooler back on and in 30 min the Laptop was cool again. The fact is the air flow system works, and well it distributes a good flow of air to the entire base of the machine keeping it cool. Even if your Laptop like mine only has a few ventilation slots on the bottom you will still benefit as the air flow system ensures the whole base is cooled and that cool air will be draw into your Laptop. I have only run it on Low and Medium because on high it's noisy and at the moment unnecessary, come summer when we have a week of hot weather then it will be really tested. I have not tried moving around with it but provided you keep hold of everything It's not going to be too difficult to handle as its light, the coolers fan draws the air in from the back so don't worry about blocking it.
SET UP: Very easy as long as you know what a USB port is you will be fine. Plug in the supplied USB cable to the Cooler (USB mini Port) and then secure the cable underneath it. Sit your Laptop on it do not worry about aligning the feet as it says in the instructions as long as your laptops feet are rubber and in good order it won't go anywhere (as long is its not tilted past the angle of the cooler). NOTE 15.4 widescreen over hangs by ½ cm at the front NOT back, but the base of the machine sits on fully (most likely just the design of my Laptop) Plug the USB cable into your Laptop and turn it in (Big button just above the inlet) it has a USB port so you can still use the port you just used as all it needs is the power from the port. Once turned on adjust settings to your preference.
NOISE:
Low: It's very quite a low toned hum a bit like an idle HDD (a quite one)
Medium: Still a low toned hum but with more a flow noise, think CD/DVD drive burning at about 12X or your Laptops fan at a similar setting (Think fan noise but tolerable)
High: At this point you can usually feel a breeze yourself (You're not going mad) Sounds like a CD/DVD drive after you have just put a disc in.
I Have it on medium and can sleep with it on that.
VALUE: Excellent considering you would pay this much or more for one that has a single or two fans just sat in the middle or on either end. This only has one fan but the entire base is hollow allowing the cool air to free flow around the whole base. Plastic base with aluminium mesh (Strong enough for laptop)

 17c? Slightly optimistic claim.

Having put the unit to the test on a Core2Duo 2Ghz laptop running Rosetta@home for 100% CPU utilisation the results are as follows:

Without:
Core 1 56c
Core 2 58c
G.P.U. 55c
Ram 53c
Chipset 25c
H.D.D. 34c

After 1 hour at full speed:
Core 1 54c
Core 2 56c
G.P.U. 52c
Ram 50c
Chipset 25c
H.D.D. 31c

The temperatures took about quarter of an hour to fall with the thermal mass of the alloy laptop case then stabilised out, during this time the ambient temperature remained constant.

So a 2-3c across the hot components, on a system that's marginal on cooling it may help out more but I had hoped to get a bigger drop in temperatures especially for the components not covered by the laptop's built in fan.

Finally noise levels are very similar to those of the internal fan so there are unfortunately no benefits to using this in place of the laptop fan for those simply after a quieter work place.

 Great product

I ordered this for my daughter because her laptop was becoming very hot and occasionally shut down without notice - a huge problem as she is a student and it gave her no chance to save her work.
Delivery was very quick and the difference was immediately noticeable. The laptop now runs for hours without getting too hot and shutting down.
At the highest fan setting - which she uses to play Sims 3 - the noise is noticeable in a quiet room but not, in my opinion, so much as to be annoying.
I previously purchased a cooler for half the price but found it to be useless. I would definitely recommend this product if you're having similar problems.

 Excellent product, extremely effective

having the inflow port on the back is genius, it means you can have it on your lap without blocking the flow of air (like would normally happen with a laptop). the fact it is powered by usb is also great, it means the cooler is only on when the laptop is on, its great! and because you can plug 1 usb device into it, you still have the same number of usb ports available.
