Very good BUT...

Had one of these for a month now purchased from this very site.
First off a big thanks to play for including a larger battery, whilst substancially adding to the weight of the laptop it makes a hell of a difference when using Vista.
So good points. The keys feel nice, everythings well positioned, your not likely to accidentally knock a button or move the mouse whilst typing.
Its very fast, agreed its not as fast as a Core duo but unless you're doing some hardcore graphics/video/number crunching you shouldnt notice to many problems.
The hard drive is huge too, you'll find it hard pushed to fill it full of mp3's and other media files in a hurry.
I'm also very impressed with how quickly it charges up, took no time at all.
Bad points, now there's a few.
Its heavy. This is with understanding what with it being a media laptop. But if you're going for a light machine stay away.
Its comes pre-loaded with so much bloatware software i found it quicker to download vista, burn vista, format and reinstall vista than try remove all the additional software. (If you're planning on doing the same make sure to use Driver Magician first (free software) as Vista doesn't auto detect much of the hardware).
At the time of writing I notice HP have released XP drivers, I've not tried it yet so not sure if there's enough available to run the machine. It'd be a shame if not as the machines biggest problem is Vista. It sucks the battery dry in no time at all, its slow and unresponsive and makes an incredible laptop above average.
All in all its decent, if a media laptop is what your after. If your looking for something small and light then avoid.
Fantastic (TX2050ea)

Like everyone else, I have just bought the earlier model with exactly the same spec. It is really a great laptop. The AMD processor is nowhere near as efficient or quick as the Intel Core 2 Duo processors and runs very.very hot so careful not to block the vents. Although a bit slow at times, the 250gb disk and 2gb of RAM means it is respectable in most areas. The screen is a really good size but is very reflective and not that bright which can give issues under bright sunny conditions. All in all, well built, great spec., beautifully constructed but runs hot, slow, and screen a bit lack lustre. Absolute bargain and don't regret buying mine (although the space bar doesn't always register first time)
Don't worry about RAM issues...

As with all the other reviewers, I have the earlier model (TX2050ea) with identical specs. Can't think why they re-badged it. Performance is great, though the heatsink does get worryingly hot while on mains power. Two batteries is a great idea and a life-saver on long trips. The Turion chip is a little disappointing compared to the Centrino on my last laptop, but it can be easily supplemented with a Readyboost compatible USB drive, available from your good friends at Play.com (plug, plug)!
great laptop (tx2050ea)

I have the older version, the TX2050ea, but its specification is identical in every area. Its a great laptop, AMD processer runs a little hot. Haven't had any problems with wireless networks or any software problems like mentioned before. All in all, a great laptop and this one came with a free long-life battery as well as the normal one.
Very good spec

I bought TX2050EA last month with almost similar spec. 5 stars for the hardware and 1 star for software. Having all kinds of problems with Vista. It doesn't like wireless networks. Lots of incompatibility with my every accessories. I would have prefered this with xp tablet edition.
Take off Norton Anti-Virus to speed this up

I orginally ordered the HP TX 2050EA but then got this. Take off Norton Anti-Virus to speed this baby up and your be laughing. 2GB is plently of memory so dont worry. With its large 250 GB Hard Drive this laptop will enable you to store up to 60,000 of your favourite songs or over 85,000 photos. The AMD processor does let it down but only slightly. Personally i think this laptop is great for on the go.
Memory upgrade possibilities

Kit looked and sounded like a fairly wicked piece of kit for a good price, but like the earlier reviewer I was concerned that 2GB of memory would not be enough. Before placing my order I contacted HP support and asked the question. They told me it has 2 memory slots and each can take a 2GB chip making the maximum memory configuration 4GB. I saw no reason to distrust the manufacturer on this and I plan to buy two 2GB chips once I have delivery. I will be most displease if my trust turns out to be misplaced.
Unique

Nice box with lots of bells & whistles . AMD processor lets this bad boy down but won't be an issue unless you're into your graphics or serious gaming. Get an extra 1GB RAM to speed it up and look for the extended raised battery, which will double battery life.
