I bought this as I needed some extra USB ports and could do with some cooling down with summer on its way.

The fan is actually quite good, and while there is some noise, doesn't become distracting.

The USB functionality on the other hand was disappointing. It really can't handle anything more than the USB keyboard and mouse I have plugged into it at the moment. The data rate seems incredibly slow, and when plugging in something else, it sometimes causes the whole unit to stop working for a few seconds, and other times (such as with an external hard drive) fails to recognise it altogether.

I was also disappointed to find that putting batteries inside it didn't make it work standalone, but also cut the power to my laptop when it was attached.

It's a nice toy, but do not buy this if you're after a serious hub. The fan, when plugged into the computer does a nice job though.

The fan part works well (although the blades are foam rubber and not plastic) but the four USB ports on the hub only supply power; any device you plug into them go unrecognized by Windows. :(

So in conclusion:
As a desktop fan: Good.
As a USB hub: Terrible.
