Good points: Very cheap machine which is surprisingly fast and high spec'ed for the price, and stylish pearl white looks stunning. Plenty of disk space. Light weight, decent battery time and fantastic screen. Incredibly easy to use (Linux linpus) and fairly easy to upgrade to XP/Vista.

Bad points: No optical drive could cause problems for less expirenced users. Some may find the screen a tad small (i.e. graphic designers etc). Hard to upgrade RAM. Quite small keyboard but you get used to it very quickly, as with the left/right click buttons being either side of the touchpad (as opposed to being beneath).

Overall: Definately recomending this product! If you dont mind the 9" screen (Its not that small really!) then you on to a winner. Amazing price, it runs as good as any £400 laptop. Lots of help out there as they are soo popular so any problems you WILL work out.
Ideal for basic users who just want to browse the internet, go on msn, listen to music and write a few documents (family computer/student laptop etc), but also great for more advanced users like myself who want to play arround with Linux and upgrade to XP, dual boot etc.

Worth every penny!

Re documents and spreadsheets, the Acer Aspire comes preloaded with OpenOffice, the Linux version of MS Office. The word processing, spreadsheet and presentation documents are all compatible with MS Office.

Bought one of these a few weeks ago, fantastic little netbook! No problems, battery life around 3hours, does what it says on the tin.

I have the Acer Aspire One N270 laptop with Windows XP, 120 GB hard drive and 1 GB memory. There are no operating disks supplied with this system and the only way to get arount this is a complete reinstall via the reset function within the built in operating system. It is a decent machine for it's size and I can run many programs on it. It does become a little slow and is loud in comparison to the Asus EEE. However, I am able to put any Windows program on it without any trouble. It is so light I take it to college and type up my notes in lectures. All in all well worth the expense without the back ache.

I am considering of getting one of these laptops for my school work, and a bit of browsing. This laptop basically comes with Linux, pretty much the same as Windows, maybe not with all the extra features though. Finally, it can you can get USB CD Drives etc...

Oh and one day they probably will, when? We don't know
