Probably the best portable USB hard disk available at the moment. It consists of a Samsung 2.5" laptop hard disk encased in a black rubber sleeve. This rubber coating helps to protect the drive as you carry it around (the whole point of portable) and also means it is fingerprint resistant unlike glossy plastic cases. Second advantage to the rubber skin is that it absorbs sound and vibration meaning the drive is whisper quiet during operation. Those worried about cooling shouldn't be, the drive only warms slightly during extended periods of operation. The only fault I can find, and I'm being really picky here, is that the supplied USB cable is simply too short (less than 1 inch). Once formatted, the drive's real world capacity is 298GB.

     I LIKE IT

I bought this as i wanted a light , small usb powered hard drive and what can i say this ticks all the boxes. You cant hear it. it doesent give much heat off so perfect
the only thing to be aware of is the case is not hard, its a plastic rubber coating which the hard drive is slipped into

     Nice N Easy

Brilliant - small, easy to use (already configured fat32), would recommend to anyone needing extra space.
It's brill that you dont need a seperate power supply like many external harddrives.
Only downside is the cover as its just a rubber case over the harddrive......

Started off fantastic, but ended up being very tempermental

When I first purchased this drive last year it was to back up my work at university so that I didn't have to worry about losing anything if my laptop (which was quite old and starting to show its age) broke down.

At first it was fine, but after a while I noticed that sometimes when I plugged it in it wouldn't power up.

The problem has gotten more and more frequent.

I think what it is, is that the USB cable that's supplied with the drive is 'only just' long enough for it to be plugged into a USB on a laptop and then sit next to the laptop. The problem is that it puts strain on the mini-USB port on the drive, which has led to it bending the port's connections inside the case.
Now to run the drive I have to use a longer, heavier USB cable, with the cable hanging off the back of my desk, to bend the port enough that it runs the drive properly.

The drive itself is fine as a product, but I would recommend getting a longer cable for everyday use than the one provided.
