Unfortunately when I received this it was dead on arrival, losing the item one star. When the replacement item arrived I was very impressed. I have tested it with 2.5" and 3.5" SATA and IDE hard drives and 5.25" SATA and IDE optical drives and all work fine - as long as IDE drives are set to 'master' on their jumpers.
On my HP laptop the adapter showed as bootable; I was able to install Windows from a DVD Drive connect to this product to my laptop using a USB cable.
Even though the image does not show it this product does come with a PSU for powering devices - providing both a molex connector with an adapter to connect devices with a SATA power conector.
I expect to use this product regularly and feel reassured that there is a one year warranty, should I experience any more problems. Recommended.
