  NICE SET OF COASTERS

| | See all PAINMASTER's reviews (3)

yep about 50 percent are in fact coasters, the rest not to be trusted, annoying when you bin as many as you burn

  Great value for money

I've used about 50 of these discs with maybe 2 coasters and considering my computer is not all that reliable I consider that an excellent ratio. Especially as I've had worse from more expensive discs.
And to echo what others have said, make sure you buy the right format (DVD-R or DVD+R). If you don't get the right one, you will struggle to burn what you want.
For this price, I haven't got a bad word to say about them.

  Useless

Would not work in my DVD recorder or either of my PCs. Nero came back with an error of illegal disc, which seems to mean that the discs are of a poor quality. Other discs work fine.

Max HELL with Maxell, None Compatible on early Sony Drives

| | See all WingCommander's reviews (48)

Lets get this straight, I burn a dozen optical Discs daily, (not floppy DISK with a 'K') Only useful as Data Backup though these discs have been nothing but problems. Data read was unreliable with intermittent read errors or even verification using Nero through my Advent PC with internal Pioneer DVDRW, had to limit write 1x with 4gb limit to get reliability. Then using a JVC DVD Recorder found the discs were not replayable through any of my SONY DVD players or my SONY notebook PC. Only my Sony DVD Recorder could play them but jumped now and again!!
Now also using a HP & NEC Notebook PC's and finding real problems playing the recordings done on my JVC DVD Recorder using these acursed discs. The Sony DVD Recorder couldn't record on them at all, disc error or bad disc was displayed after making wirring noises for upto 5 minutes. So frustrating, so much wasted time and money on these discs, Worst Experience!!

  Great :)

Do note, these are 16x Speed discs. And will only work in 16x speed DVDR drives. I found this out after purchase and so brought a 16x drive for about £20. Since then, no problems. They are cheap and great for generally backup. I Agree there are about 4.4 - 4.5 GB discs, but ive never had issues backing up DVDs, although 16x speed media isn't compatible with all DVD players. So custom made DVDs maynot work in all devices.

  great disks

never had a problem with these disks throughout the years even when Maxell changed the die's used.
I've had perfect playback on multiple stand-alone and pc bases drives when recorded on various stand-alone & pc based dvdrw's (pioneer is my fav for pc based burners with panasonic being my only current stand-alone burner)

with regards to the other comments about not playing or recording with certain hardware i can see the problem. you're using crap pc hardware - Advent PC's are far from high spec and dvdrw's in low spec 'off the shelf' systems are renound for being poor (i cannot be 100% here as you failed to supply make & model of internal drive) - another problem you have is using sony equipment - sony as renound for making it as hard as possible to playback anything that has a chance of being pirated (well they own multiple film companies so why not protect their more profitable interests). u'll also more than likely find that youre HP laptop was manufactured by e-machines (no further explanation needed) and i know of 3 JVC dvd recorders that produce very incompatable disks for pc based dvdrw's.

As for burning upto 4.4GB max this is not true as i often squeeze 4.7GB onto these disks. i feel you're using nero with standard settings. google how to increase this limit or get better burning software.

  Very good actually...

These are rated as B grade but I burned loads with no losses, no worse than Taiyo Yunden or Verbatim. Okay, these are better but not by much if you have a good burner.

They are perfect for DVD Video when I burn 4.35 GB of data. No jumps or glitching - so perfect for the job.

I recommend burning at 12x or less, ideally 8x. Burning at 16x is okay, but the Ritek F1 dye it a little harder to write to than most. For the sake of a minute per burn, you will have no losses and save £s on this 3 for 2 deal. In my experience most lost burns are hardware or compatiblity related. Whenever I've lost a discs it's been something else.

Conclusion - 100% okay if you burn a tad slower. Very good savings on this deal...

  Superb Value

| | See all Lurkalot's reviews (1)

As with the other reviewer, I've used hundreds of these discs and NEVER had a dud. In standard quality DVD recordings you get up to 2 hours on these discs.

I've found these discs to be reliable and excellent value. I don't use any other.

150 discs, delivered, for around £25 .... what more do you want?

Not As Good As You Think!

I purchased 2 for 3 of these packs of DVD's, it was a good offer at that time. This is suitable for backing up data only.
THESE DVD'S ONLY RECORD UP TO 4.4GB approx. Which sucks if you want to record a full DVD of 4.7GB. It will eject the dvd a message "you don't have enough space" appears.
