Western Digital (WD) Scorpio Blue WD5000BEVT 500GB 2.5 inch Internal SATA Hard Drive (Sony Playstation PS3 Compatible)

As someone else has pointed out, if you use this in a PS3 it will cause iPlayer to pause/stutter every 10-15 seconds. This is because the HDD heads 'park' when not being used.

This is only a workaround but it prevents the HDDs heads from parking (clicking) and makes iPlayer much smoother:

1. You will need some sort of MP3 editing software ,such as NERO wave editor (or a free alternative).

(bear with me).

2. Load an MP3 into this software. Then lower the volume of the MP3 ,so its silent.

3. Save this (careful not to overwrite the original MP3) THEN COPY IT OVER TO YOUR PS3,via external HDD,mp3 player etc.

4. Select this mp3 on your ps3 and make sure its set to repeat play.

5 .Press the guide button on your ps3 controller (silent mp3 is still playing in background).

6. Start up BBC iPlayer and enjoy stutter free viewing.

This silent mp3 playing in the background,prevents the HDDs heads from parking. Thus stopping the stuttering.

You only have to do steps 4-6 every time you use iPlayer

If you want it as a removable HDD you need an enclosure.

Install the HDD into the enclosure, right click on my computer. Then go to manage, and somewhere in there it should say Disk management. Go to there and format from there.

It`s the quietest notebook hdd that i have ever used, and i get 80mb/s max transfer speed according to hdtune.

I ordered it at 10.30 wednesday and received it next day, truly amazing.

I had an 80GB Model PS3. I have over 40 games and some games were downloaded over the PSN so my hard drive was filling up fast. I ordered this hard drive, Instillation was easy, (make sure your screwdriver fits nicely with the screws) it is also worth noting that if your console is FW 3.0 or later you will have to download FW 3.0 or later via computer and install it on the PS3 again after you installed the new hard drive before you can use your PS3. My only complaint would be the hard drive is a little noisier than the standard one but that's a very small price to pay for 500GB of storage. I would recommend if you have a lot of games or if you use Play.Tv.

just installed the hd on my ps3. it works great and perfect for all my movies and play tv. i would recomend this to anyone who is looking to upgrade there ps3
