  Iplayer issues

| | See all dean09's reviews (3)

Contrary to what others who have purchased this drive are saying this drive is not the issue with Iplayer, the problem with Iplayer is at the BBC's end and they are working to resolve it. The Iplayer problem is there on my factory fitted drive and only reared its ugly head once I updated the ps3 firmware to v3.70. A search on google will clarify this.

Anyhow the hard drive isn't the problem even though it is sooooooooo expensive, just thought I'd clear the confusion up.

  very good

It works but is NOT fully compatible with the PS3

It has been mentioned before but this drive takes the reading head off of the surface of the drive after around 3 seconds of non use, meaning the XMB will pause for moments when you leave it in one place and then try to select something, recently this has started to grate a bit and has even affected some games, Need For Speed Shift will pause all of a sudden while racing to wait for the HDD to spin up again, by the time it unpauses I'm in a wall, so by all means buy this drive for your laptop, computer or as a portable caddy but not for your PS3.
I hope this helps some people.

Bought this to upgrade my 80GB "Fatty", and as previously stated, fitted in minutes. The time consumer was in performing the backup and restore of existing data - 4-5 hours for around 40 gigs. Can't recommend the drive highly enough - shopped around, and at the time, this was the cheapest for the spec and brand.

Great drive just watch your software

This is a great drive for the price. Huge capacity and good data transfer speeds. got mine in my Mac to replace my smaller shipped drive. Only thing to consider is that I had to do a bit of tweaking to get it t work properly with OSX. Short explanation is that the drive was spinning down too much, and you have to run a little app to fix the problem .Do some searching and you'll find what i'm talking about.

I bought this drive to replace the 40gb drive in my PS3. Real easy replacement, it only took 5 minutes. After replacement I followed the 'format drive' prompt and every went like a dream. I've read a few reviews that said the BBC iPlayer stuttered after upgrade but mine works fine. I don't think you'll find a cheaper upgrade to the money. 100% recommended.
