I ended up buying this monitor like others based on the reviews so far. I normally do plenty of research on my hardware purchases. I discovered elsewhere opinions ranging from great to terrible. But in the end £115 price tag is a huge bargain for a 22" monitor so I decided to take the plunge.

I already own a similar (screen specs not inputs) Gateway monitor I bought 2 years ago for around £250, which was a budget model back then. I bought that at a store based on seeing it in use and online review research.

I plugged both monitors into my dual output graphics card and set the screen output to clone thus having the exact same image for comparison.

What I discovered is the CiBox does display an inferior image. White has a very slight tinge of blue; which cannot be removed by adjusting blue colour levels. And image colours appear washed out, most noticeable on portrait photos where skin tones are drained from colour.

Grayscale problems are also visible when displaying colour calibration images where lighter greys just look white (adjusting contrast/brightness failed to fix this).

I spent over an hour adjusting the monitor controls in a attempt to compensate for these problems; reducing brightness, reducing blue, and increasing red did help a little, but in the end still not quite right.

Had I just plugged in the monitor without having the opportunity to compare it to another I doubt I would been so aware of the problems as these deficiencies are only slight by themselves but are incredibly obvious when stood against another monitor.

I also tested out some games, and you won't actually notice these problems since no game is actually photorealistic, so as a budget gamers monitor this unit is fine.

Anybody who plans to use this monitor for any form of photo, video editing or where good colour representation is vital, then look elsewhere and spend the extra £100-150 for something better.

In the end I am still happy with the purchase, I've got a large monitor with decent resolution for only £115 which is fine for my intended purpose to run off my second computer, a Mac mini for watching the odd movie in my bedroom and some surfing.

I would certainly look elsewhere had I intended to buy a monitor for heavy usage, but this CiBox monitor does the job at this price.
