  Brilliant piece of kit

It is a great piece of kit, very easy to use and also very stable. The option to capture HD from compatible Sky HD box is a God sent. For the price it is well worth it, the only down side is that you cant use anyother capturing software but TME. Apart from that 5 stars.

  fab must buy

  Amazing Product!

Ok, so i bought the Hauppauge HD PVR about four days ago now and i think it is amazing. Breath-taking HD picture quality, Nice, stylish design and overall 10 out of 10. I also like the fact that it come with EVERYTHING you will need in the box!.

If you are looking for a product to record your gameplay in HD, then look no further. This is the perfect product and is 100% going to for-fill your expectations.

But there is one problem. The latest driver for the Hauppauge HD PVR has a minor glitch in it. Every so often, there is a slight, odd flicker that occuars. I myself, is trying to sort out the problem and ask them when are they releases the new driver to fix this but i have yet not been informed!.

But other than that, perfect product!

  Amazing machine but poor software!

I absolutely love this product! Worth every penny, although I have one problem, you have to buy the software activation key or all the converted videos have a watermark.

I had a mess around with my friends PVR the other day, only for a for hours and I was amazed. If you are looking for a capture card, don't look else where! This device is dare I say... the best in the world. Price is just right, and well worth the money. I was so amazed by the quality by this I bought one from here. Record while still in HD on your tv. The price point from Play.com was the best around too. Well done Play!

This is the Best Capture Card I ever bought

I do a lot of research before I buy something expensive, such as this HD TV Capture Card, by looking at reviews, technical information and any issues through forums.

While I was doing my research I saw very good reviews about the Hauppauge HD PVR.

At the time, I bought mine for £199.99, but I tell you that its the Best TV Capture card I ever bought (No Regrets).

However, this card doesnt have freeview, since its best feature is to View/Capture from HD Component, Composite or S-Video Sources.

I use AMD Quad Core CPU 2.7GHZ HTPC running Vista Ultimate 64-bit, and the Hauppauge HD PVR doesnt even use the CPU resources while recording at its full HD 1080i.

On my low end laptop running AMD Dual Core running vista Ultimate 32-bit, I can only play 720p videos and not 1080i, but since this recorder doesnt even use the CPU resources while recording, it also allows me to record at its full HD 1080i on my laptop with (No Crashes and No Frame Drops).

For the record, videos also recorded on my low end laptop at 720p or 1080i, play absolutely fine on my HTPC, again with (No Crashes and No Frame Drops) absolutely smooth.

On my HTPC and my Laptop, I am able to record videos for HOURS, with (No Crashes and No Frame Drops).

Bear in mind that if you use ANY TV Capture Card, there will always be a file size limitation if you use FAT, FAT16 and FAT32 File Systems, as FAT32 has a limitation of 4GB max file size, FAT and FAT16 are worse, therefore causing your recordings to crash and rendering the file unplayable, when it reaches the 4GB file size limit.

For the best recording, make sure you use NTFS File Systems, as the only File Size Limit is the Partition Size, so if you have a 500GB HDD with a single partition using 30GB for the O/S and Programs, then you can use the remaining of the 500GB for a single recording file size (Not that you would want to do that!) but hey thats how good NTFS File System is.

Overall this Hauppauge HD PVR Capture Card is the Best of the Best against the competition and its price.

Thanks to Play.com for the opportunity to provide this Review, and since Play.com provides Free Delivery with this Product, there is simply no other better for value offer than purchasing the item here.

Absolutely Superb.

  What A Machine!!

I bought this a while back and i have to say i am very pleased with my purchase. The quality is unreal especially on my PS3. The M2TS file is easily edited in sony vegas pro and the files are not as big as i was expecting and i record in 13.5 mb/s. The best thing to do though is either partition your hardrive with mine i just have two or buy an external one because i takes away the stress on your computer when your finding files on the main one and all the recordings are going to the other. Just means you can use your computer while recording. All in all this is amazing and i have to say the quality on youtube ain't that bad either!

  Good with some problems

I have had this about a month now. Its great now that I have mastered it. At first the recorder would crash, and not allow me to stop recording the video so restarting the pc corrupts the files so they cant be viewed. So I now have to recorder shorter clips. Also I record at 8Mbps as much higher crashes my pc after a short time even though my PC is fast!
The quality is amazing and its very compact. No signal delay to the TV. Pricey but I still think it's worth it.
