Whilst there may be hugely powerful laptops out there - you could be paying way over the odds for a lot of functionality that you will never benefit from. This lightweight, low-cost laptop does exactly as it says. There are very few if any laptops that match the minibook mini laptop for value; it''s the perfect micro laptop for surfing the web and undertaking word processing tasks on the move - or even if you just want to save space. One thing you instantly notice about this mini laptop is its size and weight; it is an excellent travel companion as well as perfect PC for carrying around the house. The outer casing has an attractive piano-black finish, the keyboard is tactile, the mouse pad easy to use and the 7-inch digital screen provides a perfectly clear image. If you want a laptop for powerful performance, such as for gaming or movie editing, we could recommend a long list of brands. But this is not what this mini laptop is about; it's about being compact, lightweight, well-built, functional and fantastic value for money. If you're looking for these features, then there are no rivals to the mini-book.

Does what it does well. I'm a journalist, so I need to be able to type while out and about, but I don't want to drap my big old Dell laptop around. This is just as powerful as my last laptop and does everything I need it to. Great purchase for the price.

 Not so hot minibook

The EPC Minibook is ok for just surfing but so far I have not been able to download even a simple card game onto it. Finding downloads is nigh on impossible and I would have to say that this item is best left to the Linux experts if you want to download applications etc onto it because I have just spent hours trying to and cant get anything. Also, the instructions are very basic and dont even tell you what type of Linux OS it is so when trying to download something you dont know which file to select.

If your not that good with computers I'd give this one a miss, spend a bit more money on something with XP so that you can use it for more than surfing. If all you want to do is surf then remember that this minibook doesn't play flash items unless you download the plug-in - which then doesn't seem to work?????

I would say this is a bit frustrating to use at times which is why i dont think its worth buying unless you know how to improve it out of the box. For the average PC user this is likely to become a redundant toy - I am already considering something better and I have only had this 1 day!!!!!!

Sorry to all Linux supporters - the reason I bought this was because I wanted to try out Linux - and I must say it is too technically demanding for me to make this usable for all my surfing and downloading - until Linux is truly easy to use and downloads are easily accessible then I wont be buying another Linux based product.

Just received this from Play.com. What a great machine for the price. Has loads of software built in and its so small. The 72 screen is surprising clear! I`d recommend this machine to anyone.
