Bought this to put my 60gb Hdd from my PS3. Fast delivery easy to put together and feels really sturdy. Supplied with usb cable with one plug one end and double other end although yo only need one either end. Cable is about 2 and half foot long. OK on Laptop but might be short for Desk tower. Ok so I Plug it into my Laptop and Vista loads the driver automatically then.....NOTHING. Windows does not show any external drive connected. The instruction book (slip of paper) is a little difficult to follow (poor traslation) but I work out that the drive needs formating. Look up on net how to do this on Vista. Start process but the format wizard on XP will only let me format NTFS. I was hoping to use the drive to transfer files to my PS3.
The PS3 only recognises drives formatted Fat or Fat32. Again look on Net to find out Vista will only format drives over 32gb as NTFS. Other versions of Windows will format any drive size upto 1TB as FAT32 or NTFS as the user requires. Apparently there are programs available which get around this but they sounded hit and miss. To get around the problem I partitioned the drive and formated 16 gb as fat 32 and the rest as NTFS. As the PS3 cannot see the NTFS partition it is easy to copy files off the Fat 32 partition. Not the most elegant solution but it works. I have backed up my music and photos onto the NTFS side and transferred a few movies onto My PS3 with the Fat32.
This is not the fault of the caddy but thought I'd let people know in case they were going to buy it to transfer to PS3 or got the caddy and thought it was broken when it did not show in windows. I'm not a computer whizz so it took some figuring out. I thought it might help others to know before hand.
Overall Caddy 10/10.

It's cheap and it works :)

It's cheap, it works, and the service from Play is great.

Please note that I used an old 120GB SATA HDD from my laptop when I upgraded it to 320GB. The HDD was password protected via the laptop BIOS settings and at first it did not work at all in the enclosure. I had to pop the HDD back in the laptop and remove the password and then everything worked perfectly. If you use a new drive you will not bump into this little hiccup.

 Good Value

This is a nice HDD caddy. I bought one to use my old PS3 HDD as a backup drive. I also used it to rescue hard drive data from a dead laptop, very useful!

I had a small issue with Windows 7 not recognising the drive at first, but this can be fixed by formatting the drive via the Disk Management option in the Computer Management section of Windows 7.

Its not that big, and very useful!

Ok right i had the same problem as the reviewer below, once I fixed up the HDD into the enclosure, it seemed that everything was working ok when the laptop showed at the bottom that the drive installed fully, I went to check where the drive was in My computer and couldn't see anything..
So basically I did this
went to the control panel
admin tools
computer mgmt
disk drives
And then went onto google and typed this 'Create and format a hard disk partition' into google, and clicked on the first link. And followed the instructions!

And then it worked a treat :) - Mind it does take a few mins to re format the drive.

This is the best enclosure I've used upto now, I've used mine for a 40GB H.D which came from my dead PS3 and now works great in my new PS3 Slim. For the price I highly recommend this H.D Enclosure, this drive will keep all my game saves etc safe.
