Does the job nicely. Very quiet. Bundled keyboard and mouse are wireless, not wired as it says here. Loses a star because of the lack of SP/DIF so I had to buy a USB soundcard.
The games bundle is not correct. Only Sonic Heroes and Crazy Taxi are included - well, some ropey shareware demos from about 5 years ago too. As such the Wii style controller has never been used.
WOW, chuffed we dived in & bought this power-miserly little gem, wife was harassing me for a newer faster (bionic) PC to replace her clunky old Vaio, ..now our daughters pc.
If like me, you want a fair lick of speed for general tasking on a pc, but basically web browsing & basic applications, this is an obvious choice.
It's super-low power consumption (around 25-35 watts as I recall) means that we have nailed down our overall power consumption compared to a large (& unnecessary) tower pc.
Ok, so you have to add on (maybe) a portable disc writer or "whatever" however since owning this we haven't as so much is downloadable online these days.
So far windows 7 has been a charm to use, with no compatability problems when using other house pc's with vista or xp...
I love the fact that this is so nigh on portable, as someone who is intent on scooping the various household pc's into one media room the ability to buy a small cheap wall mount (vesa fitting) & wall mount it is great for minimising clutter, as is the ability to pop it onto an existing screens vesa fittings & pretty much hide it.
Lay out is simple, big lit power switch that requires only a light press to start it up, loads of usb's for peripherals.
Good size hdd for media useage.
This is saving me a good few units of electricity per day, which is of utmost importance bearing in mind the way energy prices spike at any given time!
perfect little pc, highly recommended (never tried acer before, having stuck to primo brands), glad we tried this as it's silent, small & efficient.
There is a Microsoft guide to creating a Bootable USB Win7 Install Key. You do need a DVD drive but this can be in a desktop pc tower, you don't have to use an external USB. (I did and it's great)
I agree with the previous reviews. This "net-top" PC is very nice and I am glad I bought it, as it takes up very little space and is so quiet I had to wonder whether or not it was switched on at times! Once I found the USB dongle hidden in the mouse I set it up easily and I really like it. The Atom processor is fast enough for what I will use it for and the 2GB RAM seems enough. The only thing I won't use is the wireless controller - I did try it once but it didn't seem to work and I don't really want to play those games anyway.
The HDMI output is useful to connect this to a TV. The Revo will play BBC iPlayer, but it can't cope with iPlayer HD (it seems only dual-core processors can do that).
Windows Vista is okay (does loads of updates for the first few days), but I think I will take the upgrade to WIndows 7 (bit of a hassle, pity it isn't pre-loaded).
if your running windows 95 this is quicker, but only just. dont expect to much from this machine, it is very quiet but i guess thats because it takes five minutes to do any thing.
