Review

The most financially successful and longest-running musical of all time, Phantom of the Opera has grossed in excess of 5 billion dollars worldwide, playing to more than 80 million people and surpassing 9000 performances. If you have never attended the opera, perhaps you should take a seat!

Information
Originally adapted from Gaston Leroux's novel, "Le Fantome de L'Opera" by Andrew Lloyd Webber in 1986, The Phantom of the Opera has gone on to be one of the most lucrative entertainment enterprises of all time. A timeless tale, offset by fantastic music, incredible singing and spectacular stage and costume design, it is no wonder The Phantom of the Opera is the longest-running and one of the most loved musicals of all time.

Synopsis
A tragic love story set in Paris at the beginning of the twentieth century, The Phantom of the Opera is centred on the young, beautiful and wonderfully talented Christine. Losing both parents at a young age, Christine's passion for music that was instilled by them, carries her to the spectacular Paris Opera House. As well as audiences falling in love with her stunning voice, Erik, a disfigured musical genius living in the basement of the opera house, develops an obsession for her. Known to her as "The Phantom" he aids her career from the shadows, until finally revealing himself to her. But with the emergence of Christine's old childhood friend Raoul, a love triangle blossoms and it isn't long before The Phantom shows signs of living up to his terrifying name...

Suitability
The Phantom of the Opera contains some adult themes and scenes that may upset young children.

What The Critics Are Saying
"A gorgeous operatic extravaganza."
Sunday Express - Richard Barkley

"It's fantastic, fabulous and phantasmagorical!"
Daily Mirror - John Blake
