This Revell EasyKit model snaps together without the need for glue or paint - so you'll be deciding the fate of the galaxy in no time!

Darth Vader used this prototype as the basis for the terrifyingly effective TIE interceptor in the Battle of Yavin. Unlike all other TIE fighters this prototype has a deflector shield generator and a simple hyperdrive. Vader's TIE Advanced is armed with heavy twin blaster cannon on fixed mounts but has no life support systems. The TIE Advanced is characterised by a hull made of duralloy steel, an extended after deck and unique solar cell wings.

The Tie Advanced quickly became one of Darth Vader's favourite ships. Like all the TIE ships the prototype has a drive system consisting of twin ion engines. Its solar ionization reactor is reputed to be much more powerful than that of the standard TIE fighters. The TIE Advanced has proved itself in battle, as it is capable of withstanding many direct hits. In addition the pilots' chances of survival were considerably enhanced by the incorporation of a hyperdrive system, which enables the ship to escape from hopeless battle situations.

 A nice Tie!

I built all of the mini kit series a few months ago and mostly I was impressed with results. The Imperial ships seem to give the best results as the rebel ships have a more beat up weathered paint scheme that revel haven't quite managed to pull of yet.

The Vader Tie is a great little kit, both wings come as one whole piece each, the main cockpit ball and hyper drive hull section comes in two halves along with the twin wing pylon internal detail. The cockpit top cover can be opened via a small hinge that fits into the roof. The internal cockpit is made up of four sides and a base that fit into the hull section, as does the shaded cockpit window. The wings slot into place and are held by a pin with external detail.

The build quality is good but there are a few seams that need glueing to be properly closed, namely the seams across the pylons and the rear of the hyperdrive engine. Some of the locking / locating pins need sanding to fit properly and the pins that hold the cockpit walls together need to be sanded to enable the walls to fit together well. If you are an experienced modeller, I would cut off all the locating pins and simply glue the thing together as normal.

When done, it is a nice looking kit, good detail attention and colouring, proportionally good and looks really good hanging up.

 Nice for the price

Snaps together easily and pretty solidly considering the size. Looks quite nice including being able to see into the cockpit. Paint is bound to be sparse but whats there is fine. Mould detailing is nice. Only minor issue I have is that on one part, it doesnt snap together quite as tightly as I would like leaving a bit of a seem visible, but its not too bad, and the doesnt stop be being very happy with it overall.
