Tomy: Baby Shh Bee

Bought this just before the arrival of my little one, thinking it would be the answer to all things distressing to baby.....it wasn't! The first time i played it...when my son was less than 48 hours old it freaked him out even more, but then again so would you if at that age someone had shoved a alien looking and sounding object in your face and expected it to calm you down. I have to say it went back in its box and i didn't look at it again until about 8 weeks later, when baby had become more accustomed to life in the world. AND this time it worked and continues to work. My son is now of the age where he realises that crying brings attention and has got into the habit of doing it at the least wanted moments (at the supermarket checkout/in the car /middle of a nappy change) but now with the aid of the "Cry-sis" toy we can get a few moments solace until we can tend to him. A very good product, but i'd reccommend waiting till baby is a few months old before using it. Also, try not to let the batteries die in it....the sound it makes is spine-tingling and eerie!!!!!

Must admit, I was very apprehensive about the supposed fantastical design but those inventive Japanese have done it again!
There seems to be something about the music that entrances children. Bright colours, interesting music and amusing sound effects...
Have to say though, for a product designed for the (presumably fraught) parents of crying babies, it is ridiculously difficult to get out of the box! (sounds stupid I know, and it may be the result of too many sleep deprived nights, but I ended up getting a little annoyed to say the least!).
Overall, a good product at a reasonable price :-)
