At the dawn of time, stone age civilisations are scattered across the land, each one struggling for survival. However, the spark of civilisation has been ignited and cannot be extinguished. Ideas and inventions are spreading like wildfire across the continent and your people are taking their first steps towards building a modern society. Lead your civilisation through conflicts as they strive to master world-altering advancements such as writing, road building, seafaring and more, always working towards the final goal of flight. In Tempus, each decision is difficult, as you struggle against your opponents and the inexorable march of time. Building cities, expanding population and wars with other empires are ever-present challenges. Each era of history presents you with new challenges, which beg to be solved. A relatively fast-paced civilisation game using a modular board with an array of landscapes on each land tile to ensure a different game every session. Each turn advances players technological progress beginning with fire and ending in the modern age. The game confronts players with difficult choices throughout and features an unusual mechanic whereby players catch up with the leaders advances at the end of every turn, and move forward to take advantage of any new technologies that are discovered, thus rewarding forward planning. Tempus features a diceless battle system using cards which, if used for war, cannot be used for the other benefits they may confer.
