We have designed our site to be as easy to use as possible. We’ve provided some simple tips on how to search, browse and purchase below. We hope you enjoy your visit.
The easiest way to find what you're looking for is to search for it. The ‘Search’ box is at the top of every page.
Simply type the title of what you are looking for into the box and click ‘Go’. If you don’t find what you want straight away, here are a few tips:
Keep it simple
The Best results are often found if you enter just one or two key words from the title. Try using the least common words. Don’t use words such as ‘and,’ ‘the,’ and ‘a.'
Don’t worry about punctuation
Adding punctuation is not necessary when searching. The Play.com search engine will reveal the same results ‘proper punctuation’ or not.
Searching is not the only way to find what you’re looking for – you can also browse the site. The various shopping departments are listed at the top of every page. Simply hover over the tabs to view the most popular destinations within each department and select your preference.
Once you have chosen a department, you can choose a more specific category by clicking one of the options in the ‘browse’ box on the left of every page.
For example, you can narrow down your browse criteria in DVD by choosing the ‘Action &Adventure’ genre, select your favourite sub-genre, and then choose from your favourite actors, directors and even select your preferred price point – the choice is yours!
For products not yet available to pre-order, you can use our ‘Notify me’ service. Simply enter your email address on the product page and click ‘NOTIFY ME’. We will email you as soon as the item becomes available to pre-order.
Buying at Play.com is easy and secure.
Choosing an item
When you find an item you want to purchase, click the ‘Buy’ button. The item will be added to your shopping basket found at the top right of each page.
- Paying for your item
When you are ready to buy, click the ‘Checkout’ button in the Shopping Basket to go through the delivery and payment confirmation process.
Creating an account
The first time you make a purchase with us you will need to register and create an account. This only takes a couple of minutes to set up and is fully secure.
Choosing your payment option
During the checkout process we will ask you to confirm the delivery address and show you the total cost of your purchase. At Play.com you can choose to pay by several methods:
o Credit or debit card
o Gift vouchers: If you have received a Play.com Gift Voucher you can enter the voucher code during the checkout process. Please see our Gift Voucher FAQ for more information.
o PlayFunds: your PlayFunds account is where we deposit your cash when you make a sale on PlayTrade. When you register as a PlayTrader, we automatically create a PlayFunds account for you to store the proceeds of any sales you make. You may transfer the money from your PlayFunds account into your bank account at any time or spend the money on purchases at Play.com. Please see our PlayFunds FAQ for more information.
Confirming your item
Once you have checked your order details and clicked ‘Confirm’ your purchase is complete.
We are unable to provide technical support or advice regarding the functionality or use of any item purchased on Play.com. We recommend that you contact the product manufacturer directly for more information.
Visa and MasterCard have introduced new security checks for the protection of credit and debit cards online. As a result, you may be asked for your Verified by Visa or MasterCard® SecureCode™ password when completing a purchase on Play.com.
What happens if I am not registered for Verified by Visa or MasterCard® SecureCode™?
If your order requires one of these additional security checks and you are not already registered with your card issuer's service, you will be prompted to register securely during the checkout process and create a password for your card. If you're unsure about this new service, you may be able to complete your order without registering, but we recommend that you contact your card issuer to find out more about the service.
I'm registered but when do I enter my details?
If further information is required, you will be asked for it as you complete your order. Please note: your Verified by Visa or MasterCard® SecureCode™ password is not your Play.com password and Play.com does not have access to your Verified by Visa or MasterCard® SecureCode™ details.
I have an outstanding order that needs verification, how do I verify it?
Once you log in to your Play.com account, any orders requiring verification will be displayed. They are also listed in your 'Outstanding Orders'. However, if you try to place further orders, all orders that require verification will be displayed after you have completed your purchases.
If you have problems verifying your orders you should contact your card issuer before trying to verify them again at Play.com.
How long have I got to verify my order?
Your order will be held for 48 hours, after which time it will be cancelled. Any PlayFunds or gift vouchers used on your order will be credited to you automatically.
If I have a problem with Verified by Visa or MasterCard® SecureCode™ who should I contact?
You should contact the card issuer who issued your card. Their contact details can be found on the back of your credit/debit card.
