The votes have been counted (all 21,000 of them) and we’re delighted to announce that you’ve voted Queen as your favourite music artist of all-time!
Not only that but Freddie Mercury and the boys beat their nearest rivals, The Beatles, by twice as many votes! Looks like the show really must go on.
Dominated by classic rock and metal artists, Adele is the only artist to debut during this century to make the Top 10.
Eminem was the highest hip-hop entrant at 14. You have to go all the way down to 80 to find the next hip-hop outfit, the Beastie Boys. As for dance and electronica, Daft Punk made the biggest splash coming in at 28 ahead of The Prodigy at 32
Surprisingly, Glastonbury headliners and rock royalty The Rolling Stones failed to make the top 20, charting at 22, while Pink Floyd’s recent back catalogue resurgence saw them clock in at 15.
Perhaps the biggest surprise of all was the relatively low chart position of Play’s bestselling band/artist of all-time: Take That. The boys only managed to reach number 29, while Robbie Williams was voted as the 39th top artist.
Thanks to everyone who voted and keep your eye out for more voting polls in the months to come.
