You can also control the Parrot AR.Drone from a Linux PC and a joystick with the software AR.Drone Navigation designed for application developers and available for free. Play with other users via a Wi-Fi network Another major feature is the use of several AR.Drone on a network. Thanks to its own generated Wi-Fi network, players can create a game party where others players can join and play against each other. The multiplayer game, named AR.PURSUIT, makes it possible to have a battle between two AR.Drone. The device features a number of sensors, including a front camera, a vertical camera and an ultrasound altimeter. The Parrot AR.Drone has been designed for both inside and outside use. You can adapt it to any game situation using the two hulls provided. Play inside The full hull shield protects the AR.Drone from impacts that occur during wild battles against enemies hidden in the rooms of the house. Play outside The streamlined hull is aerodynamic, allowing greater control outside. Live video feed on your devices screen Get inside the cockpit of your AR.Drone! Even meters away, keep control with your video remote thanks to a Wi-Fi connection. Two cameras are embedded, one on the front and one underneath facing the ground. The switch between both cameras is very easy thanks to the button integrated in the application running on the controlling device. Simply tilt the device to make the model travel forwards, backwards and sideways, left or right. Having mastered these basic techniques, slide the virtual throttle forward to climb and hold in a hover, then press land to safely descend. Diagonal movements will make the AR.Drone spin slowly in either direction, with a clever variable rate adjustment for increased control. Release the screen for immediate stabilisation. Accidental contact with the rotors will cause them to stop. Suitable for both beginners and experts, the AR.Drone features a robust carbon fibre framework, with a tough expanded polypropylene foam protective body for indoor use. A streamlined hull is provided for flying outside, with pairs of red and green LED lights conveniently fitted front and back for added effect, and to assist orientation. The AR.Drone generates its own Wi-Fi connection with a range of up to fifty metres, and incorporates an onboard computer. A pair of electronic gyroscopes provide superb directional stability controlling the pitch, roll angle and yaw, even outdoors in light winds. Whilst an ultrasound altimeter maintains the height up to six metres, combined with an accelerometer designed to accurately detect horizontal and vertical movement. A vertical and horizontal video camera selectively feed live footage to an on screen display on the device, with a high speed of sixty frames a second providing stabilisation for the vertical camera. An innovative detection system will identify other AR.Drones, or tagged virtual objects, whilst validating the shots fired against an enemy, when used in conjunction with AR.FlyingAce. Traditionally flown with an iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch, an Android facility is now available to allow the AR.Drone to recognise a number of leading brand smart phones and tablets including the Motorola Zoom, HTC Desire, Desire HD & Sensation, Samsung Galaxy S1, S2 & Nexus S, LG Optimus 2x & Sony Xperia Play.
