Friday (Dir. F. Gary Gray, 1995): Friday is a hilarious look at a day in the life of two friends growing up in the 'hood' in urban Los Angeles. Featuring an all-star cast, Friday stars rapper/actor Ice Cube in this outrageous story of the pitfalls of growing up in South Central Los Angeles. 22-year old Craig Jones has just been fired from his job at the shoe store and, on top of that, his parents are threatening to kick him out of the house. Meanwhile, Craig has his eye on Debbie, a beautiful fitness instructor, but his insanely jealous girlfriend, Joi, is standing in the way. To make matters worse, Craig's best friend, Smokey, is in the midst of a shady drug deal gone sour. Before the sun sets in South Central, Craig has to get Smokey out of trouble, find a new job, avoid Joi and win Debbie's heart, and survive a climactic confrontation with Deebo, the neighborhood menace. Next Friday (Dir. Steve Carr, 2000): Get ready to kick it again with Ice Cube as he moves to the 'burbs in this outrageous sequel! Last Friday, Craig (Ice Cube) kicked Debo's (Tom 'Tiny' Lister Jr.) butt. Now Debo is out for revenge, so Craig's dad smuggles him out of the 'hood and into the 'burbs to stay with his sex-crazed Uncle Elroy and cousin Day-Day. But between Day-Day's crazy ex-girlfriend, the gun-toting homies next door and a rumble with a record store owner, Craig is gonna wish he was back in South Central where it's safe! Featuring a red-hot soundtrack featuring Ice Cube, Lil'Zane, Wyclef Jean and the much-anticipated NWA reunion. Friday After Next (Dir. Marcus Raboy, 2002) It is Christmas Eve for most of the Christian world, but when Craig (Ice Cube) and Day-Day (Mike Epps) are rudely awaken by a burglar in a Santa suit, it is definitely another Friday in the ghetto. The phony Santa gets away with all the cousins' Christmas gifts and their overdue rent money after assaulting Craig with a paltry Christmas tree. Cops are called in and do little more than confiscate Craig and Day-Day's pot stash. Though the cousins may be used to such adversity in the 'hood, they have never before had to think about getting real jobs in order to pay the bills. This third installment in the hip-hop stoner series follows L.A.'s lovable losers through their first day as rent-a-cops at a South Central strip mall.
